What size bin should I book?2022-03-22T21:54:09+00:00

So, you’ve decided to unclutter your home and you’re not sure what size of bin to book – 10, 17, 21 (Calgary only) or 25 yards (small, medium or large). The best way to do this is to collect everything together in a pile. The bigger the pile, the bigger the bin. All our bins are 14’ long. That’s the length of a car. We have a 17 yard 4’ high, a 25 yard 6’ high. We hope this helps you out.

For smaller loads we now have an economy bin, 12’ x 8’ x 3’ high. It’s a great deal. Check out our rates.

How long do I have to load my bin?2022-03-22T21:54:12+00:00

10 cu yards – 3 days – For smaller garbage cleanup and renovations. Super easy to load (12’ long x 8’ wide x 3’ tall)

17 cu yards – 8 days – Most common bin booking for all-around garbage cleanup and renovations. Easy to load (14’ long x 8’ wide x 4’ tall)

21 cu yards – 8 days – This bin is great for when a 17 appears too small but a 25 just too big. 21 cu yards meets you in the middle. (14’ long x 8’ wide x 5’ tall)

25 cu yards – 8 days – Great for house cleanouts or hauling away brush or just any big projects. Comes with a shorter gate for easy loading (14’ long x 8’ wide x 6’ tall)

Rock bin – 3 days – Made special for rocks, concrete, dirt, pavement, etc. (14’ long x 8’ wide x 2’ tall)

Note * If you filled the bin early and would like your parking spot back, give us a call and our driver will be there that day or the next morning.

What can I put in the bin?2022-03-22T21:54:23+00:00

When we say, “All in™” we mean “All in™” but we do require prohibited and recyclables to be placed at the back door or on top of the load so our driver can sort it at the landfill. If you can load it, we can dump it! All items need to be inside the bin, not overflowing and the back door needs to close securely.

Types of loads include:

  • Brush or yard waste (recycled)
  • Wood (recycled)
  • Metal (recycled)
  • Garbage (general household)
  • Demolition (renovation materials mixed) – Includes floors, bathrooms, kitchens, sinks, toilets, flooring, 2 x 4s, doors etc.
Note * The landfill does not like drywall mixed in your load. They will charge $100.00 more per tonne added to your regular charge totalling to $303.00 per tonne.
  • Drywall (recycled)
  • Roofing – asphalt shingles (recycled)
  • Rock, dirt, concrete, pavement (recycled)
Can I load recyclables along with garbage?2022-03-22T21:54:30+00:00

Yes, please call us so we can give you helpful advice on organizing the bin.

Please place these items at the back gate when loading the bin and let the driver know about recyclables in the bin; Mattresses and box-springs, Appliances (dishwashers, stoves, washers and dryers, fridges, freezers, water coolers and air conditioners or any item containing freon.)

Vernon and Surrounding area Note* Garbage is only $103/tonne, but if you mix your garbage load with lots of wood and metal, the landfill will charge $250/tonne. If you mix in drywall with your garbage, they will charge $303/tonne.

Kelowna and Surrounding area Note* The Glenmore Landfill will not allow any recyclables including cardboard. If recyclables are mixed in the load you will incur a surcharge of $150/tonne on top of your regular disposal fees

What recyclables are allowed at the landfill?2022-03-22T21:54:38+00:00

Things that are recycled at the landfill include: Wood, shingles, metal, concrete, asphalt, batteries, propane tanks, tires, logs, stumps, brush, drywall, and asphalt roofing shingles. We must be notified of these items and they must be placed at the back door.

Asphalt or Concrete – Pieces smaller than one meter with minimal rebar no longer than 4” sticking out.

Gypsum/Drywall – New drywall cut offs only.
Note* Not allowed in new drywall pile: Drywall from demolition jobs contaminated with paint, tile, lathe, or masonry. This drywall material is not recyclable, and the landfill will charge a separate fee. Please let us know when calling in for pickup so we can deal with the load properly and make every effort to reduce this disposal cost when we are at the landfill.

Wood Waste – ALL WOOD ONLY. Construction materials new or old. No trees or branches. Nails and screws are okay.

Yard Waste – Green waste such as grass trimmings, leaves, tree pruning less than 5 cm in circumference, flowers, hedge clippings etc. sod is not acceptable.

Stumps – Trees or large shrubs cut at ground level and all soil removed. Soil is heavy and will add to your disposal costs. Cut off the root system if needed and separate from the load.

Tires – Recycle at any tire store for free or put on top of load for recycling (landfill charges for tires).

Mattresses/ Box-spring – Put on top of load for recycling.

Asphalt Shingles, plastic packaging must be bagged, metal trim and vents must be all put in a bin on top of shingle load close to gate. Landfill will charge extra for mixed garbage in with shingles. It’s not cheap.

What recyclables are NOT allowed at the landfill?2022-03-22T21:54:44+00:00

All electronics (TVs, microwaves, stereos, etc.) and cardboard.
